Connect Patreon to your mods

Before you start

You need:

• A Modsy modder account.
• A current Modder Membership plan that includes Patreon monetization.
• A Patreon creator account with an active campaign.
• At least one published paid tier if you want to limit access to specific tiers.

Modder Membership availability is controlled by the live plan catalog. Review the current plans if the Monetization tab is locked.

If you have not published a mod yet, complete the illustrated modder onboarding flow first, then return here to configure supporter access.

Connect Patreon

1. Sign in to Modsy and open Modder Dashboard.
2. Select Monetization.
3. In the Patreon card, select Connect Patreon.
4. Sign in to the Patreon account that owns your creator campaign.
5. Review the permissions and approve the connection.
6. Return to Modsy and confirm that the card shows Connected and the expected Patreon handle.

Sync campaigns and tiers

After connecting, select Sync. Modsy imports the campaigns and eligible paid tiers available to the connected creator account. Expand View tiers to review them. Campaign details are available under Manage connection → Connection details. The shared Comments on Premium mods section below both providers controls comment access for Patreon and Lemon Squeezy mods.

The sync may finish immediately or run in the background. When it completes, check:

• The correct campaign is listed and marked active.
• The paid tiers you want to use are listed with the correct names and prices.
• Last synced reflects the latest successful refresh.

Run Sync again after publishing, renaming, unpublishing, or removing a Patreon tier. After a successful sync, mods with unavailable premium or active or scheduled Early Access settings are automatically unpublished. A mod remains available if another configured provider still offers access. You receive a notification when mods are unpublished, including after a background sync. Fix the affected campaign or tier mappings, then use Publish Mod in your dashboard. Renaming a valid tier does not unpublish mods, and syncing never automatically republishes them.

Configure mod access

When uploading or editing a mod:

1. Choose whether the mod itself is Free or Premium.
2. Select Patreon under Payment providers. You may also select Lemon Squeezy so a supporter can qualify through either provider.
3. For a premium release, choose a Patreon subscriber rule:
   • Any active subscriber allows an active paid member of the selected campaign.
   • Specific tier(s) allows only members entitled to one of the selected paid tiers.
4. Optionally enable Scheduled Early Access release, select the eligible Patreon tiers, and choose a duration of no more than 30 days. Early Access works for both Free and Premium mods. When it ends, that release becomes the mod's main version: it is free to download on a Free mod, while on a Premium mod it becomes the main Premium version and the mod remains Premium.
5. Complete the remaining upload details and submit the mod for review.

Premium and Early Access mods use the same plan allowance. If a count limit applies, a mod using both features counts only once. See the Modder Membership plans for current allowances. All uploaded mod files count toward your included storage.

Modsy stores the campaign and tier mapping with the mod. Your downloadable files remain behind Modsy's entitlement and signed-download checks.

Test supporter access

Test with two separate Modsy accounts before announcing a premium release:

1. Link an eligible patron account to one Modsy account under Profile Settings → Connections.
2. Open the approved premium mod and confirm it can be unlocked and downloaded.
3. Open the same mod with a signed-in account that is not an eligible patron.
4. Confirm that it remains locked and shows the subscription action.
5. If you selected specific tiers, repeat the test with a patron from a non-eligible tier.

Do not test by sharing modder credentials or by manually sending the protected file.

Troubleshooting

No campaigns appear

Confirm you connected the Patreon account that owns the campaign, then select Sync again. If the connection shows an error, reconnect first.

A paid tier is missing

Only active, published tiers with a paid amount can be selected. Publish or correct the tier in Patreon, then sync again.

A premium mod is paused

Reconnect Patreon and sync the campaign. If Modsy reports an invalid tier mapping, edit the mod and select a currently available tier.

A new patron is still locked

Ask the supporter to connect the Patreon account used for the membership to their own Modsy account and retry from the mod page. Provider updates can take a short time to propagate.

Disconnect or reconnect

You can disconnect Patreon from the Monetization tab even when monetization management is otherwise locked, or from Account Settings. If any of your premium mods or active or scheduled Early Access releases use Patreon, Modsy asks you to confirm that their mods will be unpublished. This includes mods that also accept Lemon Squeezy subscriptions. Canceling keeps your connection and mods unchanged.

After confirmation, those mods are hidden from public pages and downloads are unavailable. Reconnect Patreon, sync an active campaign, and restore valid tier mappings before using Publish Mod in your dashboard. Reconnecting does not automatically publish your mods.

Use Manage connection → Reconnect Patreon to renew authorization or deliberately switch the connected Patreon identity. Run a campaign sync afterward and review every warning before assuming premium access is healthy.
